New Community Message Alert Service
Kildare County Council, in partnership with An Garda Síochána (through the County Kildare Joint Policing Committee) has launched a new county wide service to replace the old Text Alert service. The service will be operated by Muintir na Tíre.
The new service will offer exciting new features through the use of a mobile app and a web portal, but will still retain a facility for text (SMS) alerts where required. It is expected the ease of use will lead to a much higher level of alerts being issued. There will be no cost to groups or users as funding for the service has been provided by the elected members of each municipal district from local property tax.
Groups will be required to register for the new service (registration forms at the end of this page) and full training and information will be provided by Muintir na Tíre. Registration is currently open and the service will commence shortly.
All users can avail of the FREE Cairde mobile app. Download details are below. Cairde not only allows users to receive alerts but allows for:
- Messages with attachments (pictures, documents, sound recordings, etc).
- Community messages within groups.
- A monitored emergency (panic) button.
- A property log to record details of your valuable items.
Further information evenings for all interested Text Alert groups are being held as follows:
11/01/2023 – Keadeen Hotel – 7.30pm
Further information is available from Muintir na Tíre at bealert@muintir.ie or (062) 51163.
