Muintir na Tire will be at the Ploughing Championships at Stand 275 (block 2, row 13). This is at the very centre of the exhibition, right beside the National Ploughing Association Headquarters. Our staff will be on hand to advise community groups on the current issues. We would welcome visitors from any Community Alert Groups, Community Councils, or other community development associations, whether affiliated to Muintir na Tíre, or not.
Our theme this year is on Community Safety and Crime Prevention, where we will demonstrate the options available to communities. We will have daily presentations on crime prevention and the Seniors Alert Scheme (monitored alarms for the elderly).
We will also be offering constructive advice to communities on how to organise and deal with the challenges facing them, particularly with proposed Post Office closures. We are also organising a petition to halt these premature closures, until the alternatives have been fully explored, and would welcome your support on this.
Finally, we will be showcasing our new mobile app, Cairde, each day. This app is the future of community communication, including Garda Text Alert, community messaging, monitored panic alarm, and, intelligent use of smart devices for unobtrusive monitoring.
